# What is Caviar?

Caviar refers to salted sturgeon roe. While the term is commonly used to refer to the salted roe of other fish (salmon, lumpfish, etc.), this is NOT caviar. The only true caviar comes from one of the 27 species of sturgeon that make up the Acipenseridae family (Codex Alimentarius – FAO).

# How do I serve it?

The ideal way to serve caviar is directly in its original tin. Place the tin on crushed ice and open it just a few minutes before enjoying it. Preferably serve with spoons made of mother of pearl, bone, wood, or plastic. Silver or metal spoons can react with the caviar, altering its flavor.

# How much Caviar do you serve per person?

It depends on whether you will be tasting the caviar on its own or as an ingredient in a dish. Our recommended portion is 30 grams per person if you plan to enjoy it on its own or 15 grams if it will be used as an ingredient in a dish.

# What do I pair my Caviar with?

We have very high-quality caviar, so we suggest enjoying it on its own to appreciate all the notes of its complex flavor.

However, when the occasion calls for a more elaborate dish, we suggest the following ingredients:

Traditional. Blinis with Crème Fraiche and Caviar.

Potatoes. Our caviar pairs perfectly with this ingredient in any form!

Eggs. Scrambled, fried, boiled.

Preferably, high-quality caviars should be accompanied by subtle ingredients with soft textures that do not distract our senses and thus allow the full development of flavor in the mouth.

# What drink pairs well with Caviar?

Traditionally, caviar is enjoyed with Champagne, sparkling wine, or vodka. Dry white wines or sake are also good options to accompany this millennial delicacy. But don't hesitate to try it with other drinks you like, as in the end, the only thing that matters is finding the perfect combination for you!

# How to store Caviar?

Caviar is a fresh and delicate product that requires proper storage to prevent spoilage. Always place your tin in the coldest part of the refrigerator, never in the freezer! The ideal temperature is between -4 and +4 °C (25 – 39 °F). Your caviar tin is vacuum-sealed and, when stored correctly, can be kept for several months (check the expiration date on the label). Once opened, it should be consumed within 48 hours.
